构架：主+was/were+v.（原形）ing
含义：动作那时在进行中，与现在没关系
例句1）I was watching TV when it rained.
我当时正在看电视，突然下起雨来。
2）My mum was cooking while my dad was watering flowers.
我妈在做饭，而我爸在浇花。
一、完成句子，有时不用过去进行时：
1 (at 8’clock yesterday evening) I was having dinner with some friends.
2 (at 5 o’clock last Saturday) I was on a train on my way to London.
3 (at 10.15 yesterday morning) I was having a class.
4 (at 4.30 this morning) I was sleeping.
5 (at 7.45 yesterday evening) I was watching TV.
6 (half an hour ago) I was eating lunch.
二、用过去进行时(时间状语从句，与过去时配用)：
1 Tom burnt his hand while he was cooking the dinner.
2 The doorbell rang while I was ironing my shirt.
3 We saw an accident while we were driving along the road.
4 Mary fell asleep while she was knitting a sweater.
5 The television was on but nobody was watching.
三、用过去进行时或过去时：
