表语从句

The problem is that we have no money.

其基本结构为：主语 + 系动词 + that从句。

例如： 　　

The fact is that we have lost the game.

事实就是考试不及格会 使 家长 失望。

The fact is that the failure of exam  will make  parents disappointed. 

                                 主       谓      宾         宾补

That’s just what I want.

This is where our problem lies.

这个地方就是原来八路军总部的所在地。

This is where the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army located.

That is why he didn’t come to the meeting.

人类迄今不能破解基因的密码。这就是癌症不能被治愈的原因。

Human being hasn’t broken the code of gene up to now. This is why cancer can’t be cured.

It looks as if it is going to rain.

需要注意的，当主语是reason时，表语从句要用that引导而不是because。例如： 　　

The reason why he was late was that he missed the train by one minute this morning . 　　

【注意】whether 可引导表语从句，但与之同义的if却通常不用于引导表语从句。
